Biography

Alexandra is a London based sculptor and painter whose practice explores nostalgia, self reflection and contradiction.

Her earlier practice focused on oil painting, where she draws inspiration from impressionist interpretations of light, capturing the ephemeral beauty of a moment through expressive brushwork and rich colour. Her paintings seek to capture fleeting light and form that evoke a sense of stillness and nostalgia.

Alexandra's first sculptural series "Weight of Nothing' were clay forms carved into partially deflated balloons. Inspired by conversations around existence, these sculptures are a meditation on contradiction.

Her recent series expands these ideas through an ongoing series responding to the oppression of women under the current Afghan regime. Using fabric suspended in resin, the obscure and partially conceal the female form, reflecting themes of enforced invisibility, silencing, and erasure from public life.
